FAO brochure "How the world's food security depends biodiversity”

In a brochure, the FAO Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture draws attention to the interactions between biological diversity and food security and describes how diversity contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to the brochure, biological diversity for food and agriculture affects all four dimensions of food security:

-    food availability
-    food utilization, i.e. the way food is combined and prepared to ensure a healthy diet
-    access to food for all
-    stability of the food supply

Based on a background study on this issue presented to the Commission plenary at its 2019 meeting, the Commission decided to publish, after further examination by countries and based on additional information, the study results as a brochure, and to make is available in all official UN languages.
